This bed reflects the Victorian era, named for Queen Victoria of England, which spanned from the mid-1800s to the turn of the century, leading to hybrid designs that combined the elegance of brass with the robustness of iron castings.
Castings or "chills" as they were referred to in the 1800s, were the intricate design elements that held the bed frame's iron rods and tubing together. The quality and quantity of these castings establish a bed frame's value and collectability. The details in the design of these castings are good indicators, of how well the bed frame was manufactured. Today, it also greatly influenced the pricing and value of antique iron bed frames.
The beautiful forest green with a darker green wash over the top coat gives this a very organic look. Subtle brass on the casting adds a tasteful highlight, beauty and luxury.
Do not miss the opportunity to own such a beautiful item!
